Finding Your IP Address

To be able to play Warcraft 3 using any Wc3 Lan Emulator You need to know Your or other people's IP adress.

An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a numerical identification (logical address) that is assigned to devices participating in a computer network utilizing the Internet Protocol for communication between its nodes.[1] Although IP addresses are stored as binary numbers, they are usually displayed in human-readable notations,such as 208.77.188.166 (for IPv4), and 2001:db8:0:1234:0:567:1:1 (for IPv6). The role of the IP address has been characterized as follows: "A name indicates what we seek. An address indicates where it is. A route indicates how to get there.

There are 2 types of IP address, internal and external.

Internal IP Address is Your Lan/WLan (local network) address, You shoud use this IP address type if You re playing with someone in Your local network.

External IP Address is Your internet address An external IP address is the unique identifier assigned to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). There are to types of external IP address, static and dynamic. Static is fixed and therefore never changes. Dynamic changes every time you connect to the internet. You shoud use this IP address type is You are playing with someone over internet.

• Finding Your Internal IP Address

Windows XP/Vista/7


There is two ways to see Your IP address in windows.

First is by My opinions easyest, simple go to:
Start > Run (or "windows key" + "R") > type in box "cmd" (without "")
In command prompt type ipconfig, it will show You all information about IP address, DNS and other network information's. (same is for Vista and Win7)



Second is easy but not so fast as first, You will need to go to:
Control Panel > Network Connections, then right click on Your Lan connection and select Satus.
Go to Support tab and there You will see Your IP Address.



Linux Ubuntu

For Ubuntu just go to Terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal), and enter command:

ifconfig

if You will have permission problems use:

sudo ifconfig

eth0 is for Lan
lo is for WLan

Easyest way to know Your external IP (internet IP address) is on internet :D.

Just simply go to www.whatismyip.com and it will show Your IP address
